Abstract
The Teaching of Italian-Canadian Studies Diana Iuele-Colilli Rather than being a critical survey of university courses dealing with the Italian-Canadian experience as the title might suggest, this article deals in a specific sense with a second year course taught at Laurentian University entitled "The Italian Heritage In Canada."Some remarks, however, about the present status of Italian-Canadian studies in the undergraduate curriculum are in order.To begin with, I have found that only four Canadian universities offer undergraduate courses that deal with the Italian heritage in this country in a substantial if not in an exclusive manner.The Carleton University calendar lists a course called "The Italian Heritage in North America" offered by the Department of Italian and which deals with the Italian-American and the Italian-Canadian contributions to literature, theatre and cinema.'
