Abstract
Este estudo pretende analisar uma organização contábil do ponto de vista da teoria da contingência e da teoria institucional, a primeira explicando os fatores externos e a segunda explicando os fatores internos que afetam a estrutura das organizações contábeis. Por meio de estudo de caso realizado em um pequeno escritório contábil de Santo André busca-se analisar se as alterações normativas, de legislação e tecnológicas ocorridas a partir de 2007 no cenário das organizações contábeis são fatores contingenciais e qual é a estrutura organizacional que esta organização apresenta. Além disso, é feita uma análise do nível de institucionalização das normas contábeis nesta organização. As conclusões deste estudo apontam que a entidade estuda possui uma estrutura muito centralizada, o que não é adequado para as organizações contábeis. Também constatou-se que a organização estudada encontram-se no estágio de semi-institucionalização das normas contábeis, fase um pouco atrasada em relação ao apresentado pela teoria.
