Abstract
In this article, the author describes discipline-oriented study abroad to develop globally ready students equipped with C1 proficiency and compares it with current Business French instruction. Discipline-oriented study abroad involves the study of business and engineering, in French, at business and engineering schools in France or Quebec. In this model, students complete a semester of coursework in French, followed by a semester-long internship with a French-speaking company. The author concludes by making the argument that the development of a multidisciplinary major or double major in French and Business is a potential strategy to protect endangered French programs in the U.S.
