Abstract
Ce texte est un exercice, inspiré par les travaux de F. Héritier, qui cherche à proposer quelques pistes de réflexion sur la question de la sanction sociale de la mise à mort. Tout comme l’interdit de l’inceste, et de la même manière que tant d’autres rapports sociaux, le meurtre ou l’exécution ne seraient possibles et tolérables, en fait ne seraient concevables et reconnaissables, qu’à la bonne distance sociale, c’est-à-dire entre le trop proche et le trop éloigné. Enfin, un bref regard sur la modernité suggère qu’il ne restera bientôt que le suicide comme forme de mise à mort acceptable.
