Abstract
En este ensayo se examina la organización del campesinado como forma histórica de control de este sector de la población. Dividimos el periodo, que va del porfiriato a la época contemporánea, en tres grandes momentos que corresponden a tres paradigmas del proceso de civilización. Encontramos que desde el último cuarto del siglo XIX hasta el cardenismo predominó el lema de la liberación del labrador. Enseguida apareció la organización social y política del ejidatario como hilo conductor de las políticas públicas, para posteriormente, en los ochenta, transformarse en la emancipación del trabajador rural y su inserción plena en la economía de libre mercado.
