Abstract
Une attitude linguistique implique d’abord une évaluation linguistique. Cette évaluation est générale, quotidienne et inéluctable et les jugements qu’elle engendre sont toujours subjectivement motivés. Ces jugements sur la langue sont d’abord des jugements sur ses locuteurs et par là même sur leurs comportements éminemment sociaux. Cet article fait une revue critique des approches théoriques et méthodologiques des attitudes linguistiques. Après un examen détaillé de certaines études menées au Québec, un continuum préliminaire pour cerner les facettes du phénomène est proposé.
