Abstract
La Révolution tranquille était-elle vraiment féministe et laïque? L’autrice étudie un corpus de sources primaires concernant l’adoption de la Loi sur la capacité juridique de la femme mariée en 1964, la publication du rapport Parent entre 1963 et 1966, et le combat laïque de la revue Parti pris. L’analyse féministe poststructuraliste adoptée par l’autrice déconstruit les binarités laïcité/religion, égalité/patriarcat et modernité/tradition au coeur de relectures historiques féministes aujourd’hui. Elle démontre aussi que pendant la période 1960-1966 circulaient des récits sécularistes construisant un « nous, Québécois et Québécoises » compris comme un « nous, qui descendons des Canadiens français et des Canadiennes françaises catholiques ». La référence identitaire au christianisme y demeurait donc structurante.
