Este trabalho teve como objetivo discutir acerca da importância do brincar no desenvolvimento da criança que se encontra em um ambiente hospitalar; pesquisar como esse processo pode contribuir com recuperação da criança e do adolescente hospitalizado, e ainda identificar como a pedagogia hospitalar pode trazer benefícios para os pacientes neste contexto. Para a criança e o adolescente hospitalizados o ato de brincar pode ser uma maneira de subverter as relações de poder dentro do hospital, compreendido como uma ação e uma fala, que rompe com a lógica historicamente construída sobre a criança hospitalizada de sujeição ao adulto e à ordem médica. A brincadeira promove e facilita a interação grupal e permite a criança a aprender e enfrentar emoções, através da interação com outras pessoas, bem como com outras crianças que estão ali no mesmo espaço, atendendo assim uma parte essencial das necessidades da criança hospitalizada no quesito socialização. Conclui-se então que é possível identificar a importância e os benefícios do ato de brincar para criança hospitalizada e a brinquedoteca como um recurso de enfrentamento às condições hospitalares.
