Abstract
Roman emperors played an important role in the slave trade by confiscating slaves from private individuals and alienating them to others. Some slaves may have used the system to their own advantage. Constantine is notable for his use of slaves in property confiscation. Abstract: Les empereurs romains ont joué un rôle important dans le commerce d'esclaves en confisquant des esclaves à des particuliers et en les cédant à d'autres.
