Abstract
Scholars have long misread what Thucydides says about Athenians' knowledge of their liberation from the Peisistratid tyranny: he does not say that Athenians knew nothing true about it; he says, rather, that they said nothing true about it. Correction of this misreading invites critique of Thucydides' own account and agenda. Abstract: Les chercheurs ont longtemps mal lu le témoignage de Thucydide quant à ce que les Athéniens savaient de la manière dont ils avaient été libérés de la tyrannie de Pisistrate : il ne dit pas que les Athéniens ne savaient rien de vrai à ce sujet ; il dit plutôt qu'ils ne disaient rien de vrai à ce sujet. Corriger cette erreur de lecture nous mène à critiquer le récit même de Thucydide et les intentions qui le sous-tendent.
