Abstract
In ps.-Dem. 59.34, Apollodoros calls as witnesses "bystanders" and "spectators" of the dinner during which Neaira had sexual intercourse with a lot of people, including slaves. Are they "eyewitnesses"? This unique designation in forensic speeches is in fact a way to distinguish them from other guests who took part in this orgy. Abstract: Chez Pseudo-Démosthène (59.34), Apollodore cite comme témoins les « personnes présentes » et les « spectateurs » du dîner au cours duquel Nééra eut des relations sexuelles avec de nombreuses personnes, y compris des esclaves. Sont-ils des « témoins oculaires » ? Cette dénomination unique dans les discours judiciaires est en réalité une façon de distinguer ceux-ci des autres invités qui ont participé à cette orgie.
