Abstract
Marcelle Deschênes, pionnière de la composition électroacoustique, pianiste, pédagogue et artiste multimédia. Née en 1939 à Price, Marcelle Deschênes a fait sa marque dans les années 1980 et crée le tout premier programme de composition électroacoustique de la Faculté de musique de l’Université de Montréal. Elle s’implique au sein d’organismes et groupes de recherche et ouvre la voie aux femmes dans un domaine pratiquement exclusivement masculin. Elle travaille également auprès des jeunes et des non-musiciens. Elle se démarque, notamment, par ses spectacles multimédias à grand déploiement et sa démarche créatrice innovatrice à l’ère des Laurie Anderson, Michel Lemieux, La La La Human Steps. Elle s’entoure de collaborateurs tels que Raôul Duguay, Les Mimes Électriques, Jacques Collin, Paul St-Jean (L’Écran humain) à une époque où tout est permis et où la scène fait partie intégrante de la production musicale dite de tradition classique. Une période musicale éclatée et totalement nouvelle dans toutes les sphères artistiques.
