<p><strong>Abstrak</strong><br />Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui etiologi kriminal tindak pidana kekerasan dalam rumah tangga terhadap istri di wilayah Kabupaten Bantul dan upaya-upaya untuk mengurangi kasus tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian hukum empiris bersifat deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan data primer dan data sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data yakni melalui wawancara dan studi dokumen. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model analisis interaktif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan faktor-faktor penyebab terjadinya tindak pidana kekerasan dalam rumah tangga terhadap istri di wilayah Kabupaten Bantul meliputi ketidakadilan gender, ekonomi, perselingkuhan dan kecemburuan, lingkungan keluarga dan pengalaman masa kecil, pengonsumsi miras atau alkoholisme, rendahnya kecerdasan intelektual dan emosional, dan perkawinan dini. Teori Cesare Lombrosso dan Enrico Ferri, serta The Dominance atau Radical Feminism Theory telah sesuai untuk menganalisis fakor-faktor tersebut. Upaya-upaya untuk mengurangi kekerasan dalam rumah tangga terhadap istri di wilayah Kabupaten Bantul yang meliputi upaya preventif dan upaya represif yang bersifat persuasif maupun koersif.<br />Kata Kunci: Etiologi kriminal, kekerasan dalam rumah tangga, istri.<br /><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Abstract</strong><br />This research aims to determine criminal etiology of domestic violence against wives in Bantul Regency and efforts to minimize the cases. This research is a descriptive empirical legal research. This study uses a qualitative approach with primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques, namely through interviews and literature study. The data analysis technique used an interactive analysis model. The results of this research indicate the factors that cause domestic violence against wives in the Bantul Regency include gender inequality, low socio-economy, affair and jealousy, family environment and childhood experiences, alcoholism, low intellectual and emotional intelligence, and early marriage. The theory of Cesare Lombroso and Enrico Ferri, as well as The Dominance or Radical Feminism Theory are suitable for analyzing these factors. There are efforts to reduce domestic violence against wives in Bantul Regency which include preventive and repressive which are persuasive and coercive.<br />Keywords: Criminal etiology, domestic violence, wives.</p>
