In recent times, a few activists without any formal historical training have managed to convince Edinburgh City Council to approve a new historically inaccurate plaque for the Henry Dundas monument in St. Andrew Square.Efforts to rename Dundas Street in Toronto using similar flawed evidence from the Edinburgh fiasco are also underway.Such agendas are problematic when rushed, pursued without input from a cohort of professionally trained historians, and mainly devoid of careful consideration of historical evidence and context.
