Les études sur la thèse du travailleur heureux‐productif sont contradictoires. On présume l’existence d’un lien linéaire entre la performance et la santé psychologique. De plus, on constate que le type de performance et ses effets varient selon les études. Cet article vise une meilleure compréhension du lien entre la performance et la santé psychologique des travailleurs. L’association non linéaire entre la performance contextuelle, le bien‐être psychologique au travail et l’épuisement professionnel a été examinée. Les résultats d’un questionnaire administré à 978 travailleurs canadiens démontrent que le pourcentage de variance du bien-être psychologique au travail et de l’épuisement professionnel expliquée par la performance contextuelle est plus important lors de l’ajout de termes quadratiques aux analyses.
