Abstract
Des recherches antérieures présentent des résultats contrastés et controversés concernant les difficultés rencontrées par les enfants à haut potentiel intellectuel. L’objectif de cette étude est de déterminer les éventuelles difficultés adaptatives d’une population d’enfants à haut potentiel intellectuel en lien avec leurs caractéristiques individuelles. Un échantillon de 98 individus âgés de 10 à 15 ans dont le quotient intellectuel (Q.l.) est supérieur ou égal à 130 a été retenu. Deux types d’approches ont été sélectionnés : a) recueil de données anamnestiques auprès de la mère ; b) questionnaires autoévaluatifs (Personnalité et Motivation) de l’enfant. Les analyses factorielles distinguent clairement les facteurs propres à l’enfant et les dimensions liées à l’environnement qui sous-tendent les difficultés d’adaptation des enfants intellectuellement précoces (E.I.P). Les résultats d’analyses typologiques montrent des trajectoires développementales plus au moins fonctionnelles. Les plus grandes difficultés sont davantage le fait de facteurs contextuels que de prédispositions biologiques. Ces résultats peuvent s’inscrire dans le cadre de programmes destinés à la prévention de troubles psychopathologiques ou développementaux.
