Perspectives nouvelles sur l’attachement à partir d’études sur les problèmes extériorisés des enfants

Abstract
Cet article présente comment, au cours des dix dernières années, mes travaux de recherche sur l’agression physique et les problèmes extériorisés chez les enfants de moins de six ans ont contribué au domaine de l’attachement. Le suivi longitudinal d’une cohorte d’enfants de mères adolescentes a montré que l’attachement mère-enfant est associé aux comportements antisociaux des filles mais pas à ceux des garçons. Ces travaux ont mené à un projet permettant d’explorer le rôle des jeux de bataille père-enfant dans la socialisation de l’agressivité des enfants, tout particulièrement des garçons. Par la suite, la théorie de la relation d’activation a été développée afin de mieux comprendre la contribution des pères pour l’attachement et le développement de l’enfant. L’article se termine en soulignant l’importance maintenant accordée à la problématique de l’attachement par le Centre jeunesse de Montréal-Institut universitaire dans l’intervention auprès des jeunes enfants en difficulté.
