Cette étude examine le lien entre la relation famille-école, telle que définie selon la typologie développée par Bronfenbrenner (1979), et l’adaptation sociale d’enfants présentant des difficultés de comportement. En début d’année scolaire, les parents de 59 enfants du deuxième cycle du primaire ont répondu à un questionnaire portant sur leur relation avec l’école. Les enseignants de ces élèves ont complété en début et en fin d’année une mesure d’agressivité, de prosocialité et d’inattention. Une analyse factorielle a confirmé la nature multidimensionnelle de la relation famille-école. Par ailleurs, des analyses de régressions multiples ont révélé que les parents qui se représentent l’école de façon positive ont des enfants moins agressifs et davantage prosociaux. De plus, des communications fréquentes entre les parents et les enseignants en début d’année scolaire sont associées à des comportements moins agressifs chez les enfants en cours d’année. Ces résultats mettent en évidence l’importance de considérer la relation famille-école comme un concept multidimensionnel dont certaines dimensions sont associées à une meilleure adaptation sociale chez les enfants présentant des difficultés de comportement.
