Abstract
L’article s’inscrit dans le prolongement des études sur l’immigration touchant les communautés francophones en situation minoritaire (CFSM). Il repose sur une démarche exploratoire centrée sur la notion de francotropie , laquelle fait référence aux populations non francophones à l’origine, mais qui seraient davantage prédisposées à faire l’apprentissage du français. L’objectif est double : d’une part, on vise à scruter en quoi la notion de francotropie peut contribuer à la vitalité des CFSM; d’autre part, on cherche à évaluer les enjeux et les défis spécifiques associés à l’immigration des francotropes dans ces communautés. L’analyse est basée sur des données statistiques et censitaires relatives à une population francotrope et immigrante spécifique, celle venant d’Amérique latine, et cela, à l’échelle du pays. Cette analyse met en lumière une disparité évidente entre le Québec et les CFSM.
