Sekolah alam mempunyai peranan penting dalam sistem pendidikan di Sumatera Utara. Sekolah alam di Medan ini merupakan salah satu sistem pendidikan yang formal namun berbasis alam. Penulisan ini membahas mengenai bagaimana caranya membangun suatu wadah proses belajar-mengajar dengan tema arsitektur hijau dengan pemanfaatan material yang ramah lingkungan. Sekolah alam bertema arsitektur hijau ini dibuat untuk mengajarkan para siswa tentang pentingnya menjaga dan melestarikan alam sekitar, proses belajar-mengajar tidak jenuh karena memiliki kelas terbuka serta adanya program ekstrakurikuler yang langsung dilakukan di alam yang merupakan fasilitas dari sekolah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni dengan melakukan survei langsung pada lokasi untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai data fisik maupun non fisik yang dibutuhkan dalam perencanaan, dan melakukan studi literatur untuk memenuhi data yang ada, yaitu berupa teori-teori yang dibutuhkan pada analisa perencanaan dan perancangan, serta melakukan studi banding pada objek dan tema sejenis dengan pengamatan visual, dokumentasi dan internet, Kemudian dilakukan proses perancangan sehingga terciptalah sekolah alam ini. Kemudian dapat disimpulkan bahwa Sekolah Alam ini dibangun untuk memudahkan masyarakat memperoleh pendidikan sekolah yang formal namun berbasis alam sekaligus menyadarkan masyarakat bahwa betapa pentingya untuk menjaga alam lingkungan sekitar.
