Abstract
Ce texte examinera les dispositions de la DNUDPA touchant l’appartenance à une communauté ou à un peuple autochtone. Le droit de définir la composition d’un groupe étant une expression du droit à l’autodétermination, nous explorerons de quelles manières se manifestent les différents processus menant à la définition du groupe et à la saisie de l’identité autochtone par le droit au Canada. Il est ainsi conclu que l’apport de la DNUDPA est de soutenir les efforts des peuples et communautés autochtones cherchant à redéfinir leurs citoyennetés par les mécanismes de leur choix.
