L’étude proposée dans cet article a pour objet le processus de la réception de la démocratie chez les islamistes qui s’étend du rejet à l’adoption conditionnelle. Plus précisément, elle vise à explorer la configuration du concept de la choura dans ce processus. Une méthode interdisciplinaire combinant sociologie des religions et théologie est apparue comme l’avenue la plus propice afin de mettre en rapport la dimension religieuse et la dimension politique de cette question dans une perspective historique diachronique. Privilégiant une approche socio-analytique comparative et le recours à l’analyse de contenu et de l’étude de cas, l’étude se penche sur deux corpus idéologiques élaborés par deux grandes figures du paysage islamiste au Maroc. Premièrement, Abdessalam Yassine (1928-2012), fondateur, ex-guide suprême et principal théoricien de ǧamāʿaẗ al-ʿadl wa al-iḥsān (Groupe de l’équité et de la bienfaisance), comme représentant du camp rejetant la démocratie en faveur de la choura. Deuxièmement, Ahmed Raissouni (1953-), président (1996-2003) de ḥarakaẗ al-tawḥid wa al-islāḥ (Mouvement de l’unicité et de la réforme), matrice et groupe de prédication lié au Ḥizb al-ʿadāla wa al-tanmiya (Parti de la justice et du développement : parti d’idéologie islamiste qui a siégé au pouvoir gouvernemental au Maroc durant la période 2012-2021), comme représentant du camp de réconciliation, bien que conditionnelle, entre la choura et la démocratie.
