Simulação do Desempenho de Chaves Eletro-ópticas Utilizando Amplificadores Ópticos a Semicondutor

Abstract
Resumo Através da simulação computacional, são apresentados resultados do desempenho de dois tipos de chaves ópticas, acionadas eletrônicamente, baseadas em amplificadores ópticos a semicondutor (SOA): em configuração simples e em arranjo interferométrico tipo Mach-Zender.Para o primeiro tipo, razão de contraste de ganho de 33dB, com tempos de 270ps (subida) e 190ps (descida) foram obtidos.No segundo tipo, tempos ainda menores, da ordem de 100ps, foram obtidos, para operação em ganho profundamente saturado, porém com grande perda na razão de contraste, que é reduzida de 40dB (ótimo), para menos de 10dB.Uma forma de manter-se o contraste no nível ótimo seria a utilização de níveis crescentes da corrente de alimentação com a potência óptica de entrada, fato que pode não ser de fácil implementação prática.
