INTRODUO: Doena autoimune consiste na presena de clulas imunolgicas defeituosas que perdem sua capacidade de discriminar os antgenos prprios dos no prprios e comeam a produzir autoanticorpos, atacando assim estruturas, quando de fato deveriam fazer parte dos componentes de defesa do organismo.Desse modo, sabe-se que a pandemia da COVID-19, que se iniciou no Brasil durante o ano de 2020, levou a muitos pacientes desenvolverem produo acentuada de autoanticorpos em resposta infeco pelo SARS-CoV-2, evoluindo em diversas ocasies, para doenas autoimunes.OBJETIVOS: Entender a relao da infeco pelo SARS-CoV-2 com o aparecimento de doenas autoimunes.METODOLOGIA: O presente estudo foi realizado a partir da busca nas bases de dados PubMed e BVS.Foram selecionados 6 artigos, publicados no perodo de 2020 a 2023, para a realizao desta reviso.RESULTADOS: A inflamao ocasionada pelo SARS-CoV-2 estimula a hipersecreo de citocinas, como TNF-, IFN- e IL-6, levando, assim, a resposta inflamatria exagerada e a supresso de linfcitos (clulas CD4+ e clulas CD8+).Sabe-se que clulas reguladoras T CD4 + controlam a resposta imunolgica mediante inibio na liberao de molculas pr-inflamatrias e ao estmulo na produo de citocinas imunossupressoras, como TGF-beta, IL-10 e IL-35, prevenindo, assim, a autoimunidade.Portanto, os efeitos deletrios na homeostase da resposta imune devido alta concentrao de citocinas na COVID-19 podem contribuir para o aparecimento de doenas autoimunes, o aumento do perodo de infeco e, consequentemente, do risco de bito, pois amplia a chance de desenvolver coagulao intravascular disseminada (DIC) e levar falncia vrios rgos em decorrncia da resposta inflamatria exacerbada.CONCLUSO: Diante do exposto, foi comprovada a relao da infeco pelo SARS-CoV-2 e o surgimento de doenas autoimunes.Portanto, imprescindvel a elaborao de mais estudos acerca dessa temtica, principalmente no que tange investigao precisa da epidemiologia,
