Abstract
L’étude de cas est une stratégie de recherche habituellement mobilisée pour sa capacité à permettre la description et l’analyse en profondeur des phénomènes sociaux. Outre sa portée purement heuristique, cet article montre que l’étude de cas, telle qu’elle est pratiquée dans la sociologie des organisations au Cameroun, est orientée vers l’accompagnement des organisations du champ économique. Dans cette perspective de traduction du discours sociologique en expertise, trois usages sont faits de l’étude de cas. D’abord, elle comporte un versant didactique pour transmettre les acquis de la sociologie des organisations aux gestionnaires en formation professionnelle. Ensuite, les sociologues camerounais la mobilisent dans le cadre de travaux académiques et de publications scientifiques pour donner du sens à des phénomènes aussi disparates que la formation professionnelle et les croyances sorcellaires. Enfin, les sociologues-consultants la mettent en oeuvre dans une perspective de renforcement des capacités d’action des organisations.
