Dans son roman Il pleuvait des oiseaux (XYZ, 2011), Jocelyne Saucier, écrivaine québécoise, raconte l'histoire des grands feux qui ont eu lieu au début du XXe siècle dans la province d'Ontario. Arrivant du centre à la périphérie de ces bois en quête d'une histoire presque oubliée, deux femmes, une photographe et une vieille dame, retracent l'histoire de ces événements en rencontrant deux hommes âgés exclus et en se familiarisant avec eux. Dans notre contribution, nous analysons comment ces deux univers d'une périphérie et d'un centre s'affrontent, quelles dichotomies spatio-sociales nous pouvons observer au sein du roman et quelle en est l'issue tant pour la narration que pour les protagonistes de l'histoire.
