Introduction: The equine hoof can adapt morphologically to changes in environment, training intensity and lameness. In foals, lateralizing behaviour such as grazing has been shown to affect right and left forehoof symmetry, which may be related to performance later in life. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of initiation of training on lameness, hoof morphology and hoof asymmetry in a group of 2 and 3-year-old American Quarter Horses.
