Abstract
Le Sénat du Canada a souvent fait l'objet de controverse et de projets de réforme ces dernières années. Protéger la démocratie canadienne : Le Sénat, en vérité … jette un nouveau regard sur l'histoire, le rôle et l'évolution du Sénat, le situe dans le contexte d'autres systèmes fédéraux et distingue ses functions de celles des gouvernements provinciaux. Les auteurs analysent la façon particulière dont le Sénat exerce ses pouvoirs législatifs par rapport à la Chambre des communes. Ils évaluent également la contribution de la Chambre haute à la formulation et à la révision des politiques en illustrant comment il sert de tribune utile à représenter les divers intérêts régionaux, linguistiques, culturels et socioéconomiques du Canada.
