Avant-proposC'était en octobre 1989.Rosa Bruno-Jofré venait de commencer à enseigner les cours de Fondements de l'éducation et d'Histoire de l'éducation à la Faculté d'éducation de l'Université du Manitoba.Elle se sentait limitée par le manque de ressources disponibles pour permettre à ses étudiants de faire de la recherche sur l'histoire de l'éducation dans la province, en particulier sur la contribution des femmes.Elle entreprit bientôt de mettre sur pied un comité appelé « Communauté des enquêteurs pour le projet d'histoire de l'éducation à l'Université du Manitoba ».Le comité était composé d'étudiants, de professeurs et d'enseignants à la retraite.Ayant été en contact avec les Fidèles Compagnes de Jésus, une congrégation de religieuses enseignantes à Calgary, M me Bruno-Jofré avait acquis de la considération et un vif intérêt pour leurs réalisations éducatives.Pour cette raison, elle désirait impliquer des sœurs dans la recherche qu'elle lançait à l'Université du Manitoba.Par l'entremise d'une diplômée, elle fut mise en contact avec nous, les Missionnaires Oblates, une congrégation enseignante fondée à Saint-Boniface et dont les origines remontent à la crise des écoles du Manitoba dans les années 1890.M me Bruno-Jofré rencontra l'équipe de direction de la Congrégation dont j'étais membre ; elle nous fit part de son projet de nous inclure dans la recherche, et invita l'une de nous à faire partie du comité.Mon nom fut suggéré et j'acceptai avec empressement car j'avais un intérêt particulier pour l'histoire et le renouveau de notre Congrégation.J'avais
