Abstract
These were just some of the resources mobilized over a period of eighteen months to produce The Enderby and District Community Play. Based on the Colway style developed in Britain by Ann Jellicoe during the 1980s, the play ran for ten nights between 18 and 29 May 1999. The project marks the fifth time a full-scale Collaborative Community Play has been produced in Canada and the first use of the form in BC. 1 In keeping with Colway’s mandate of “inclusivity,” the project sought to bring together residents from as many diverse backgrounds as possible to create and produce a play meeting the highest possible artistic standards. The inclusion of participants from neighbouring settlements, including the Spallumcheen band of the Shuswap First Nation, was a priority.
