Abstract
As audience members file into One Yellow Rabbit’s Big Secret Theatre, they are greeted by a dimly lit stage, empty except for a large projection screen and spotlighted tables filled with laptops and other less apparent electronic technology, cameras, clocks toys and various props. On a screen behind the tables, a large projection of a street corner in south west Calgary shows an everyday street scene. The camera is unmoving, framing a mid-morning, grey, urban scene that loops endlessly. A man waits for the lights to change so that he may cross the street; another pushes a cart; cars drive by and stop at the traffic lights. Once finished, it all starts again. The repetitive passing of the people in the loop provides a metronomic beat for the evening’s performance.
