Abstract

As noções referentes a espaço e lugar têm sido ponderadas pela Geografia desde muito tempo, uma ciência milenar e que acerca dela muitos estudos foram erigidos. Ainda que seja um conceito bastante antigo, uma abertura quanto à compreensão e aplicação dessa ciência só pode ser observada recentemente, e, ainda assim, mesmo com a já comprovada necessidade de interdisciplinaridade, muito precisa ser feito para que estes conceitos ganhem mais força. Neste artigo propomo-nos analisar algumas questões referentes à poética da paisagem, presentes nos poemas Cismar, Nas praias do Cumã e Nênia, todos do livro Cantos à beira mar (1871) da autora maranhense Maria Firmina dos Reis; em todos foi possível perceber um forte sentimento de afeição pelo litoral e, principalmente, pelo espaço aquático. Para embasamento desta análise, foram visitados conceitos propostos por Yi-Fu Tuan (2012 e 2013), Eduardo Marandola jr. (2012), Eric Dardel (2011) e Gaston Bachelard (1957), importantes teóricos que muito tem a dizer acerca dessa prática interdisciplinar, além das pertinentes pesquisas de Nascimento de Morais Filho (1975), Dilercy Adler (2017) e Régia Agostinho da Silva (2013), críticos da biografia e obra de Firmina. Uma pesquisa que, além de inaugurar um novo olhar a respeito da poesia da autora, permite resgatarmos – mais uma vez – essa relevante personalidade e que durante tantos anos esteve relegada ao ostracismo.
