Abstract
Este breve artículo sitúa el manuscrito "El marxismo y la idea de 'proceso histórico'" de Gino Germani en el contexto más amplio de la sociología del cambio social propuesta por este autor. En particular, se destaca cómo la recepción de la tradición marxista por parte de Germani, basada en sus lecturas del "Joven Marx" y del marxismo italiano, se alinea con su visión del proceso histórico y social del cambio como simultáneamente condicionado y contingente. Esto significa que, para Germani, el cambio está orientado hacia la modernización, pero también es susceptible de generar diferentes estructuras sociales y regímenes políticos, especialmente en contextos periféricos como Argentina y América Latina.
