Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

On behalf of the entire team, we would like to thank the long-term residential care homes and all those who work and live within them for sharing so much with us.We have been impressed with the dedication and commitment of those who provide care and of those who manage care, as well as with the strength of the residents and their families. While we identified problems, we also saw many ideas worth sharing. On behalf of Pat and Suzanne, we would like to thank all those who participated in the ethnographic work.Their skilled observations and interviews constitute the primary data for this book.Their names are listed below. While their reflections were critical to our work, Pat and Suzanne alone take responsibility for the analysis presented here.Wendy Winters has held the project together and has, as usual, made invaluable contributions at every stage of this project.Nancy Shannon transcribed with care more than five hundred interviews.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
