Dalam bidang Pendidikan Agama Islam, perencanaan merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam kegiatan pendidikan demi tercapainya tujuan pendidikan yang diharapkan bagi setiap jenjang dan jenis pendidikan pada tingkat nasional maupun lokal. Pentingnya perencanaan yang baik dalam bidang Pendidikan Agama Islam karena jika tidak ada perencanaan yang matang pelaksanaan suatu kegiatan akan mengalami kesulitan dan bahkan mengalami kegagalan dalam mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan. Oleh karena itu Pendidikan Agama Islamnsebagai jalan hidup manusia yang paling baik perlu direncanakan secara baik dan sistematis. Harapannya Pendidikan Agama Islam benar-benar dapat merasuk ke dalam jiwa setiap Muslim, terutama pada anak-anak usia sekolah. Namun penerapan Pendidikan Agama Islam di lembaga pendidikan umum merupakan suatu tantangan tersendiri.
