L’articolo si propone di analizzare Un amore (1963) di Dino Buzzati, considerandolo come uno dei romanzi che rappresenta in modo emblematico il processo di erotizzazione della cultura e della società sviluppatosi in Italia a partire dagli anni Sessanta, in risposta al progressivo cambiamento dei costumi e all’affermarsi di un discorso teorico sulla sessualità che si stava diffondendo in questo stesso periodo. Come tenteremo di dimostrare in questo articolo, in Un amore Buzzati traduce formalmente l’ossessione erotica del protagonista Dorigo verso Laide attraverso una serie di strategie retoriche (uso della metafora, di interrogative retoriche, iperaggettivazione, ecc.) che, associate a temi specifici (la prostituzione, la gelosia, il rapporto tra interdizione e repressione), riprendono alcuni nuclei teorici centrali della riflessione sul rapporto tra desiderio e società borghese e della critica all’erotismo formulata in quegli stessi anni da Georges Bataille, Réné Girard e Herbert Marcuse.
