Perubahan istilah penjara menjadi lembaga pemasyarakatan bertujuan agar warga binaan yang sedang berada di dalamnya, dapat dihargai sebagai manusia dan kelak menjadi manusia yang lebih baik. Guna menunjang kegiatan membina, diperlukan fasilitas Lembaga Pemasyarakatan (Lapas) yang dapat mendukung kebutuhan kegiatan. Tujuan penulisan naskah ini adalah untuk memperlihatkan sebuah proses pencarian studi guna mendapatkan pemahaman mengenai konsep humanis yang dapat diterapkan pada perancangan lapas, khususnya lapasnya perempuan. Melalui kajian pustaka berupa pemahaman terhadap gambar-gambar yang diperoleh melalui pencarian secara daring, dilakukan kegiatan memilah dan memilih informasi yang berkaitan dengan lapas yang humanis. Hasil studi memperoleh pemahaman mengenai gambaran sebuah lapas dalam penyediaan fasilitas yang dianggap dapat memanusiakan manusia, dalam hal ini adalah para warga binaan.
