On dit de l’anthropologie politique qu’elle s’intéresse aux rapports de pouvoir, d’autorité et de solidarité qui se nouent au sein des collectivités vivantes; aux stratégies, normes et appareils mobilisés pour gouverner ces rapports, les légitimer ou y résister. Mais tout de suite une question se pose : peut-on circonscrire ce vaste faisceau de préoccupations à l’intérieur d’une seule sous-discipline? Plus maintenant. Car si la problématique de l’anthropologie politique fut jadis rigoureusement délimitée, elle s’est progressivement fragmentéeet irrigue aujourd’hui la discipline de part en part. Faut-il conclure que cette sous-discipline appartient à l’histoire? Que la politisation de l’anthropologie (nous y reviendrons) eut raison de l’anthropologie politique? La sous-discipline n’a pas dit son dernier mot.
