In fan, water pump, engine power system and other applications, limited by the use environment and cost, permanent magnet synchronous motor usually adopts sensorless control mode instead of installing position sensor. The mode of open-loop starting and then switch to closed-loop control is adopted. If the initial rotor position of the permanent magnet synchronous motor cannot be accurately obtained, motor reversal and out-of-step will occur during the open-loop starting process, resulting in the final starting failure of the motor. In this paper, according to the application requirements of high-speed electric pump and engine starting controller series products, based on the inductance saturation effect of permanent magnet synchronous motor, six pulses of equal width were injected, and the initial position identification of permanent magnet synchronous motor rotor was realized by detecting the current response. The test results show that the identification accuracy can meet the position-free starting requirement of permanent magnet synchronous motor.
