Abstract
findings has not been shown to be predictive of cervical spine instability. 4 We defined 'clinical significant' as an acute cervical spine injury requiring surgical intervention.In our cohort two patients were considered clinically significant requiring surgical intervention.MRI findings of one patient demonstrated disc protrusion and cord compression with cord signal change at C3-4, bony contusions, and anterior longitudinal ligamentous injury.The other patient demonstrated a chronic 4-mm disc protrusion at C5-6 causing moderate spinal canal stenosis that was considered an acute presentation of a chronic injury.In our study, MRI detected a case of missed type 3 non-displaced odontoid fracture on CT.Although this fracture can be potentially unstable, the patient was treated with rigid collar after spinal unit consultation.
