O povo Pataxó reside na região que hoje é o sul da Bahia desde antes da chegada dos portugueses. Entre as áreas que eles ocupam, está o distrito de Cumuruxatiba, no município de Prado. Ali está localizada a Terra Indígena de Comexatiba, que inclui diversas aldeias. Esse território de ocupação ancestral é atualmente palco de disputas entre fazendeiros e indígenas pela posse da terra. No meio do conflito, os Pataxó seguem suas vidas cotidianas da melhor forma possível. A comunidade organizou-se para escrever e falar sobre si própria. Assim, ela denuncia os ataques que vem sofrendo, mas também se mostra e apresenta sua cultura.
