Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

In this roundtable, four contemporary artists reflect on the way their practices intersect the theme of the refusal of unpayable debt. Topics include: resistance to the punitive debts imposed on “developing” countries, with a focus on Sudan; financial speculation on the future of urban youth in Nigeria; the role of the weird in a critique of dominant modes of financialization; and the politics that accrue in the abeyance between debts and their impossible reconciliation. The encounter was initially staged as a conversation as part of the 2022 transmediale festival symposium on the theme “For Refusal.”

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
