Abstract
Tabou (2012) repense la mémoire des événements historiques par le biais d’un exercice sur les formes de regard et d’écoute. En travaillant sur le temps et sur l’anachronisme, le film de Miguel Gomes élabore une réflexion sur le caractère contemporain des images et des sons en tant qu’archives de la mémoire individuelle et collective. Cette réflexion se développe à travers différentes stratégies visuelles et sonores. En particulier, dans la deuxième partie du film, la mémoire intime et secrète du souvenir individuel est mélangée à la mémoire collective des images du xxe siècle ; les images et les sons ne renvoient pas à une mémoire subjective ou à un processus cognitif, mais plutôt à une mémoire multiforme et multitemporelle. En prenant en compte ce mélange de regards et d’écoutes, l’article va tenter de résumer trois figures exemplaires : l’esthétique de la trace ; l’asynchronisme ; et le pouvoir des images et des sons.
