GENTRIFICAÇÃO SUBURBANA, DISPLACEMENT E IDENTIDADE TERRITORIAL : O CASO DE ALMADA

Abstract
Este artigo explora as expressões contemporâneas da gentrificação na metrópole de Lisboa e, especificamente, a extensão do fenómeno ao concelho de Almada, a partir da questão do displacement. O trabalho de investigação foi realizado entre 2019 e 2022, e baseou-se em observação participante em espaços recentemente requalificados dos territórios de Cacilhas e Cova da Piedade, bem como em entrevistas semidiretivas a residentes e ex-residentes que passaram há pouco tempo por situações de displacement, traduzidas em desalojamentos residenciais e numa diminuição da sua identificação com o lugar. Entre os principais resultados, verificou-se que as pessoas que conseguem permanecer no bairro fazem-no sujeitando-se a piores condições de habitação. Para estes residentes, diminuiu o sentimento de pertença ao lugar, com uma perda de espaços de encontro e consumo em resultado da requalificação dos espaços públicos e da reestruturação do tecido comercial.
