Abstract
Cuando se cumplen veinticinco años desde que el 20 de agosto de 1998 el Tribunal Supremo de Canadá formuló el dictamen sobre la secesión de Quebec, en este trabajo se realiza un estudio focalizado sobre el sistema político y constitucional canadiense y español, comparando las tentativas independentistas de Quebec en 1980 y 1995 con lo acontecido en Cataluña en 2017. Así, es factiilidad de realizar referéndums sobre la independencia de partes de su territorio, mientras que tal perspectiva es prácticamente imposible en los estados indivisibles (España).
