No âmbito dos estudos feministas, a complexa relação das mulheres com as dinâmicas e espaços de poder tem sido pauta da agenda do movimento político desde seus primórdios, seja pela demanda de participação no jogo democrático, passando pelo exercício profissional em postos de impacto econômico e simbólico, até a capacidade de elaboração discursiva nos processos epistemológicos. Considerando aqui, entretanto, a complexidade, senão a impossibilidade em delimitar a categoria mulher, ainda que considerando também suas variantes linguísticas e matéricas, fato é que, mesmo com mais de um século de existência das ações do movimento feminista, em praticamente todos os setores laborais de significância política e econômica há baixa representação feminina, seja como agentes ou como problemáticas (assim como há irrisória presença de sujeitos racializados e de dissidência de gênero).
