Propôs-se analisar os discursos proferidos por dois Deputados Federais e dois Senadores que foram favoráveis às alterações impostas pela Lei nº 14.026/2020 na Política Nacional de Saneamento Básico. Adotou-se a Análise de Discurso Crítica, proposta por Fairclough, em diálogo com o pensamento de Dardot e Laval, Harvey e Brown com o objetivo de identificar as representações constituídas e as ideologias que permearam os discursos desses parlamentares, em prol da ampliação do número de empresas privadas na prestação dos serviços de abastecimento de água e de esgotamento sanitário. Os achados dão conta que nos discursos analisados foram construídas representações ideológicas neoliberais com objetivo de desqualificar as Companhias Estaduais, silenciando a importância dessas instituições públicas na ampliação e provisão dos serviços públicos de abastecimento de água e de esgotamento sanitário, no Brasil.
