Abstract
Une série télévisée est un objet dynamique, susceptible de connaître de multiples évolutions entre le début et la fin de sa diffusion. Chaque saison, chaque épisode, chaque scène, chaque plan même, peut éclairer d’une lumière nouvelle une série dans son ensemble – et, dans les cas les plus extrêmes, remettre en cause son intérêt en tant que tel aux yeux des spectateurs et de la critique. Or, la réévaluation des succès d’hier semble s’accélérer sous l’influence d’une offre sérielle surabondante et d’une simultanéité d’expression de l’opinion entre professionnels et amateurs. Cette étude vise à mettre en perspective les différents critères sélectionnés (plus ou moins consciemment) par la critique américaine pour établir qu’une série a « basculé » sur l’autre versant, après avoir été adoubée et couverte de louanges.
