Le ‘Paris-fonction’ tel que l’a décrit Pascale Casanova est le lieu ‘où va s’accumuler le capital littéraire, où se réunissent les éditeurs les plus novateurs, [et où] les traducteurs, c’est-à-dire, par définition, les gens plus ouverts aux innovations internationales, diffusent de nouvelles normes esthétiques’.1 C’est, suivant cette définition, là que s’organise le champ littéraire tel qu’il a été défini par Pierre Bourdieu2, et par conséquent, le lieu de la reconnaissance et de la consécration.3 Les valeurs de ‘Paris’ (universalité, exigence esthétique, formalisme...) sont littérairement, linguistiquement, géographiquement et socialement à l’opposé des capitaux qu’une poétesse comme Anjela Duval (1905–1981) peut mobiliser et auxquels elle se voit associée (authenticité, exigence éthique, sincérité) du fait de sa position sociale. Même si les écrivains qui cumulent tous les capitaux nécessaires pour appartenir pleinement au champ (résidence parisienne, intégration à des réseaux de sociabilité, appartenance à une revue littéraire... et ne pas avoir besoin d’exercer un second métier, pourrait-on ajouter) sont rares4, ceux dont cette poétesse-paysanne dispose ne peuvent que la porter à l’extrême marge du champ, voire empêcher son affiliation. Pourtant, plus de vingt ans après sa mort, elle continue de bénéficier de nombreux indices de reconnaissance en tant que poétesse.
