Abstract
Les Petits frères de la Croix (PFC) sont une « communauté nouvelle » québécoise fondée en 1980, une quinzaine d’années après la fin du concile Vatican II qui appelait les communautés religieuses à la révision de leurs Constitutions. Après une définition de ce que sont les communautés nouvelles et une brève histoire des PFC, le rôle des Constitutions dans leur évolution est exploré autour de deux axes : le lien avec le statut canonique de la communauté et l’influence sur sa vie quotidienne. Il ressort de cette étude de cas que ce rôle a été somme toute marginal chez les PFC et que des recherches comparatives seraient fort utiles pour documenter de manière plus large la place des Constitutions dans les communautés nouvelles.
